Students at Politecnico di Milano are given the chance to enter international student exchange programs. Different programs are available offering different experiences abroad. In general, students that are selected to take part in a specific program can enrich their CV by studying abroad for a given period of time, earning credits that are recognized by Politecnico di Milano. Possible ways to access international programs include: 

• the Erasmus Plus program or special extra-EU programs;
• double-degree programs T.I.M.E. (Top Industrial Managers in Engineering ) to earn a double M.Sc. degree at Politecnico and a partner university.
• internships in industries or universities abroad;
• development of thesis works in universities or research centres abroad

Additionally, there are special programs reserved to Electrical Engineering students. Among these, are worth of note the Double M.Sc. degree programs with the chinese universities  Xi’An, Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Pechino, Beihang University (BUAA) and Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU) .

Double M.Sc. degree programs POLIMI-XJTU and POLIMI-BUAA

Why studying in China? Two main reasons: First, because China has a booming economy with trade and technological exchanges with several countries. Second, because it is an exciting and dynamic place, rich in history and culture. Last but not least, cost effectiveness of China makes this country an affordable place to choose to study your graduate program

Why applying for the DD programs with XJTU and BUAA? These double-degree study programs allow students to work in an international context that is very challenging from a cultural perspective and, at the same time, very promising in terms of learning objectives and job opportunities in a true global scenario. The official teaching language is English, both at Politecnico di Milano and XJTU/BUAA. Enrolled students have also the opportunity to study basic Chinese language.

The students who apply for these double-degree programs are selected at the end of the third year of their B.Sc. program. Enrolled students have the chance to continue their studies in international classes and are given the opportunity to spend at least three-semesters at the partner university campus. At the end of their study program, students earn the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano and the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering at XJTU/BUAA. These Double Degree Programs are held in the framework of the  T.I.M.E. (Top Industrial Managers in Engineering ).

Double M.Sc. degree programs POLIMI-XJTU

The city of Xi’an was one of the four great capitals of the Chinese Empire (with more than 3000 years of history), hosting 13 imperial dynasties, and terminus of the Silk Road that connected the ancient Eastern and Western Worlds. Today, Xi’an is the most important industrial, cultural and educational center of Central-Northwestern China. Among its universities, XJTU is a member of the C9-League (association of the nine most prestigious Chinese universities) and the presence of the State-Key Laboratory of Electrical Insulation and Power Equipment (ranked no. 1 in China in the relevant research fields) attests the leading role of XJTU in the field of Electrical Engineering. Additionally, Xi’An and XJTU are the star point of the “New silk road of knowledge” promoted by Xi Jinping and of the related Science and Technology Harbor, as well as of the UANSR University Alliance of the Silk Road in which Politecnico di Milano is executive partner of XJTU.  

• In the framework of this DD program, students have the opportunity to improve their competences in the field of power systems with specific reference to innovative materials and leading edge technologies for the Smart Grid.
• Students (third year of the Bachelor in Electrical Engineering) interested in this DD program are offered the possibility to participate in a one-week Summer Camp organized by the host university.

Capital of the People’s Republic of China, Beijing is the political and culture center of China, as well as one of the most populous cities in the world. It’s one of the most exciting cities of China where areas of great historical fascination coexist with lavish and modern palaces and shopping malls.

Beijing hosts several prestigious and world-wide known universities. Among these, Beihang University (BUAA), founded in 1952 as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, is considered one of the most important key universities given priority for technological development of the country. 

• In the framework of this DD program, students have the opportunity to improve their competences in the field of industrial automation with specific reference to power electronics and electrical drives.
